The Kings Room opened its doors for the first time July 20, 1974. With a new debt of $38,000, and a family of five, Joe Booker was understandably concerned about his new investment.
He started with two chairs and after working 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, Joe was able to add more chairs. Hairstyles were getting shorter and business was growing.
In 1984 Joe's daughter Michele came on board. What great partners they turned out to be. In 1991 they remodeled the Roger's Plaza location, putting in 10 chairs, keeping everyone of them full with great service, great haircuts and great prices. Joe and Michele added three more Kings Room locations from 1991 to 2002.
